Making A Christmas Birthday Party Special For Your Child

It can be difficult having a birthday so close to the Christmas holiday season.  With busy schedules, trips to see Jolly Old St. Nicholas, Christmas carol outings; it can sometimes be hard to focus on your child’s upcoming birthday party.  However, as a parent. it is important to make your child’s birthday a special occasion for them.  A fun birthday idea with a festive touch is to have a birthday celebration like a Christmas party.  Your invitations could be the shape of a Christmas tree cut out from construction paper and decorated by your child with jewel stickers and stars.  The opposite side of the tree can have the directions and information printed on it.  When your guests arrive, greet them with a fun personalized Santa hat that they can wear throughout the party and take home with them afterwards.  These hats will also be fun when posing for photos.

The decorations for your Christmas party can be traditional with a twist to make it personalized for your child.  You can have a Christmas tree decorated in your child’s personal taste and favorite colors.  If you have the time and energy, you can make personalized ornaments adorned with the birthday girl’s pictures of her and her friends taken at previous outings and play dates.  You can decorate the tree prior to the party, or have your guests help trim the tree when they arrive to the party.

A fun activity that your child and her guests can do is to decorate cookies and other holiday treats.  You can make plain sugar cookies ahead of time and have them cooled and ready to decorate when the party starts.  Using cookie cutters in shapes like a stocking, gingerbread men or candy canes are fun to decorate.  Let your guests use whatever color they would like, along with sprinkles, silver balls and frosting.  Eating these cookies with some hot cocoa and marshmallows could be a fun twist on the traditional birthday cake.

Even during the busy hustle and busy season of Christmas, it is important to let your child know that they are special.  Throwing them and their friends a fun Christmas party is a great way to celebrate their special day and helps kick off the festive holiday season!
